Our Story

OUR STORY

Jamie and Philippa Symington run a large and successful family farming business in West Norfolk. Jamie is the 4th generation to farm this land – fertile soils reclaimed from the sea, sandwiched between the low-lying Fens and the wild salt marshes of the Wash.

Philippa’s family holidays were mostly spent camping, whether it be in the glorious Peak District, on bracing the Yorkshire clifftops at Filey, or among the sand dunes of the French coast. Jamie’s however were spent pootling about on a boat in the creeks of Brancaster, and he introduced Philippa to the beauty of the Norfolk coast when they were still students.

In their 20s they discovered the joy and freedom of campervan life when they spent several months travelling around New Zealand and Australia, cementing a love of adventure and the great outdoors, and an appreciation of life in the slow lane - photo of us in younger days!

Many years later, and looking for an opportunity to diversify their farming business, they jumped at the chance to take on the established Retro Campers Norfolk, when Graham and Vicky decided to sell the business.

In 2023, Jamie and Philippa became the proud owners of 4 classic VW campers, helped in the business by their son Nicholas. His first car was a 1969 Singer Chamois, a type of Hillman Imp, which he has restored and still drives today. His knowledge and enthusiasm for classic vehicles is invaluable.

Jamie and Philippa so look forward to sharing their love and passion for the glorious countryside and coast, stately homes and historic towns of Norfolk and the surrounding areas.
